Day nine of 30

About street portraits, day nine of 30. Is it always awkward?  Not always.  After a while the clumsiness of the ask becomes a little less clumsy, and you learn how to navigate through how the other person probably feels.  People will, on occasion, agree and then do something unexpected.  How they feel about photos is often a reflection of how they feel about talking with me, so perhaps they’re more relaxed, or open to being themselves or just acting… normal.  But there is still a little bit of apprehension when leaning in to ask.

This was taken May 15th, 2022, near E and 7th.  She was part of a group of people and stepped out of the group when I asked if they were good with having their photo taken.
