reflections of a street photographer part duex

Looking back, it has been like being on an old school balance scale balancing between Ichi-go Ichi-e (一期一会) and Mono no Aware (物の哀れ).  And sort of wondering if there should be someone on these scales.  I promise the Japanese phrases are NOT me trying to be fancy, waxing philosophical or even slightly sophisticated.  They kind of capture what street photography has been for a few years, maybe all the years. But why does this matter?  Connection.  How do our pursuits fit into the grand scheme of things, and who do we identify with, and then understanding our selves a little bit more.

Ever see the weird face people make looking at you, looking at what you’re focusing on, and then looking back at you?  That sort of, what the actual fuck is that person photographing and why look. In my eyes, a heavy bit of contrast on a building corner and some whispy clouds.  In my eyes, the face of someone struggling with a complicated reality, lacking social connection and a heavy chemical influence.  In their eyes some guy pointing a camera up at nothing, or in the face of someone who hasn’t bathed in months and speaks in gibberish.  In reflection, the one thing that I’d like to see in this, is, others who do and feel the same. Or same ish. Collectively, in the same boat, figuring out life and how things fit in.
